As of 22.01.2022, new regulations apply due to the Fourth SARS-CoV-2 Infection Protection Measures Ordinance (4th Ordinance, last amended on 18.01.2022). Therefore, we are adapting our hygiene concept.

The most important change is the introduction of the 2G-Plus rule for the dance area. This means that only persons who have been vaccinated or have recovered (=2G rule) and who bring a daily updated test certificate may participate in all classes offered in the area of DANCE. Exceptions are made for students and children and recently boostered/vaccinated individuals.
For the area of SINGING in groups and choirs, the 2G plus rule also applies with no exception for recently boostered/vaccinated adults.
All other courses in the area of MUSIC fall under the 2G rule.

Dear students,
Dear parents,

The Berlin Senate has recently changed the Corona regulations for the operation of music schools, so we are now adapting our rules. I am sending the updated protection concept attached.

  • The most significant change is that music lessons (individual and group) are possible without proof of a test result.
  • For singing in individual lessons, there is also no longer a test obligation. However, special distance requirements apply.
  • For group singing and dance lessons, a negative test result is required.
  • The test obligation or proof of complete vaccination or recovery for teachers remains.

Dear students,
Dear parents,

There is good news!

After a long break, during which unfortunately only online lessons were possible due to the Corona pandemic, there is now the possibility of face-to-face lessons again. The most important prerequisite, apart from the well-known hygiene measures such as keeping a distance and wearing masks etc., is the testing obligation of teachers and participants. For persons whose last required vaccination was at least 14 days ago or who have recovered, the testing obligation does not apply.

  • Music lessons may take place in closed rooms in individual lessons as well as group lessons with groups of up to 5 participants plus a teacher in presence.
  • Singing lessons and lessons on wind instruments are only permitted indoors in individual lessons.
  • Groups of up to 20 children up to 14 years of age or 10 persons over 14 years of age plus a teacher are permitted outdoors. A special spacing rule applies to singing and wind instruments.
  • Dance lessons (according to the Senate’s plan of 18.05.2021): from 04.06.2021 indoors with a limit of persons (maximum 10 persons) and compulsory testing for adults; from 18.06.2021 groups without limit, compulsory testing for adults.

If you wish, our teachers will continue to offer you online lessons.

Thank you very much for your patience and support.

Dear students,
Dear parents,

We are sorry to say that we have to continue with the restrictions on our lessons. Due to the decree of the State of Berlin of 13 April, music schools and other educational institutions are not allowed to hold face-to-face classes until 9 May.

We are aware that due to the Corona pandemic, our classes cannot always fully meet the expectations of our students. However, our lecturers are making every effort to compensate for the current interruption of classroom teaching by offering online classes.

We thank you for your understanding and support.

Dear students,
Dear parents,

The New Year has started and sadly the restrictions of the Corona pandemic continue to affect us all. Live events and present classes will not be possible until at least March 7.
We truly thank you for your support during this time and sincerely hope that you are in the best of health.

Thank you very much!

2021/01/12

Dear students,
Dear parents,

We wish you a Happy New Year and hope that 2021 will be a healthy and successful year for all of us.

Unfortunately, the year starts with new restrictions. The Senate has extended the measures until 31 January in the Covid Ordinance of 6 January 2021. This means that until 31 January, music schools may not be opened for presence classes.

We are sorry that the restrictions will continue to affect our work. But we hope that in the meantime good solutions for distance learning or catch-up appointments could be found for all students.

Thank you very much!

2020/12/14

Dear students,
Dear parents,

Over the weekend, the decision was made that there will be no more face-to-face teaching at Berlin schools from Wednesday 16 December 2020. Unfortunately, this decision also affects the Global Music School. The closure of our music school is expected to last until 10 January 2021. We will keep you informed.

We ask again for your understanding and support in this situation. We came through the last lockdown very well. With your help, we will manage it together this time again!

– If possible, our teachers offer online lessons. This way, there will be no absences and classes can continue “normally”.

– If no online classes or other alternative forms of teaching can be offered, cancelled classes will be made up in the new year after the (hopefully soon) reopening.

Thank you very much!

Dear students,
dear parents,

After teaching has largely returned to normal during the summer, we are all facing new restrictions due to the Covid pandemic. This will probably also affect music and dance lessons. We expect, however, that we will be able to continue to offer face-to-face teaching.

Following the conference between the Federal Government and the States on 28 October 2020, the Berlin Senate yesterday adopted new measures (tenth amendment to the SARS-CoV-2 Infection Protection Ordinance). According to this amendment, music schools (as well as Kitas, Schools, Volkshochschulen and libraries) are allowed to stay open.

Should further details become known, we will inform you.

Stay healthy and positive.

Thank you very much!

Dear students,
dear parents,

We are very happy that our courses, despite Corona, can again take place without greater restrictions and largely in face-to-face classes. This applies to singing and wind instruments as well as to the various dance courses. Where necessary, we have of course taken special safety precautions. We make every effort to ensure that the lessons are as pleasant and safe as possible for everyone.

We sincerely hope that you are all in the best of health and that, despite the circumstances, you will have fun and enjoy your musical and artistic activities.

We wish you a good start into the new school year!

2020/08/06

Dear students,
dear parents,

With the start of the new school year on August 10, 2020, we are introducing two important changes regarding Corona:

Attendance Documentation
In all courses and teaching formats, including dance, attendance lists must be kept. For reasons of data protection, these lists only contain the name and period of attendance. Only non-registered persons (e.g. trial lessons) fill out a form with address data.

Mouth and Nose Covering (Community Mask)
As in all general education schools, the wearing of mouth-nose-masks is obligatory: in all corridors, waiting areas, toilets. Simple cotton masks or cloths are sufficient. The masks may be taken off during the lessons.

In addition, the Corona safety concept of the Global Music Academy still applies.

By following these rules, we ensure safety and a pleasant stay during the lessons for everyone.

Thank you very much!

2020/05/11

Dear students and parents,

Since music schools in Berlin are allowed to reopen on 11 May, we are currently preparing for the reopening of the Global Music School for instrumental and vocal instruction.

The reopening can only take place step by step. On the basis of the Corona Ordinance of 7 May 2020, the following forms of teaching are possible:

– Vocal and instrumental lessons (including wind instruments) in the form of private lessons
– One-to-One lessons with accompaniment (one teacher, one student and one accompanying person)
– Group lessons up to five people (except vocal music and wind instruments)

The basic prerequisite is the strict observance of hygiene and distance rules, which we already know from other areas. We have developed a safety concept for hygiene and distance rules and we will also implement the necessary protective measures on site. All rooms are equipped with instruction sheets on the hygiene and distance rules.

We expect that most of the teachers will start teaching again at Bergmannstr. 29 from 11 May. It is possible, however, that some teachers or students may not wish to take part in face-to-face lessons for health or personal reasons. For this we ask for the greatest possible mutual understanding.

The respective teachers will discuss with you the exact conditions for resuming classes in each individual case. The teachers will also develop a plan with you on how to make up for any catch-up lessons due to the Corona closing time.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your support during the closing time and hope that you are all in good health.

We are looking forward to seeing you!

The whole team of the Global Music School

2020/04/20

Dear students and parents,

Our music school is currently closed due to the state regulation on the Corona pandemic.

However, we are working with a lot of imagination and creativity to make music and dance lessons possible even under the current restrictions. We are convinced that our society is essentially based on cultural exchange and artistic activity – across social, cultural and geographical borders. This is what the Global Music School has been working for in the past. We want to continue to make our contribution to this in the future.

Many of our teachers already offer online lessons – and they do so with great success. Even though the adjustments initially caused difficulties, this new way of teaching is becoming increasingly successful. For many, this format has become a real alternative.

We will continue to expand the area of online teaching. We will keep you informed about the progress.

We are also working on other alternative forms of teaching such as compact workshops, summer schools and the like to make up for lessons that are currently not taking place.

We wish you all the best!

Stay healthy, cheerful, positive and in good spirits and take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Your GMA-Team.

2020/03/17

Dear students and parents,

The news on how to control the coronavirus has been going round in the last few days. The recent decision to close all public and private music schools until the end of the Easter holidays, in addition to many other institutions, also affects the Global Music School. We are obliged to follow the official orders of the health department.

This means that temporarily no more lessons can take place in our rooms at Bergmannstr. 29.

Above all, the current situation requires from all of us a great deal of prudence, mutual understanding and solidarity with each other. This applies in general to wide areas of social life, and in the same way to the Global Music School.

However, we don’t want to sit back and wait comfortably in the crisis mode, but together with our teachers we will try to fulfil our contractual obligations in the best possible way with a lot of imagination and creativity. How this can be done in each individual case is best discussed directly with the respective lecturer.

An important solution could be to switch to online lessons as far as possible or other alternative forms of teaching such as compact workshops, summer schools and the like. In view of the mandatory official orders to reduce social contacts to a minimum, we ask you as our customers to please accept this offer, even though we are aware that online learning does not provide the same kind of direct exchange possible with contact teaching.

In view of the dramatic economic consequences that the closure of the Global Music School will have for our teachers as well as for the Global Music School as a whole, we ask you for your kind support and loyalty to the contract. We need the monthly course fees to be able to pay the fees to our teachers. With the course fee you will be directly supporting the independent musicians who are particularly hard hit by the current crisis.

With this letter we would like to thank you for the trust and solidarity you have shown to us. As a sign of our thankfulness we would like to offer each student a voucher for 4 x 60 minutes (teacher and course of his/her choice; for children’s courses 4 x 30 minutes).

As soon as the Global Music School is officially open again, the voucher will be available for you in our office.

We are also currently discussing the possibilities of a solidarity-based contract model. The idea here is that everyone who can and wants to pay into a fund, voluntarily, a higher monthly contribution. With the surplus money we can then use to lower the monthly contributions of those who are currently particularly affected by the corona crisis and who would otherwise no longer be able to afford the fees. We would be pleased to receive feedback and constructive ideas on this proposal.

We are convinced that our society is essentially based on cultural exchange and artistic activity, across social, cultural and geographical borders. This is what the Global Music School has always been committed to. We want to continue to make our contribution to this in the future.

We thank you for your support!

All the best for the future!

Stay healthy, cheerful, positive and in good spirits and take care of yourself and your loved ones!

Your GMA-Team.

2020/03/13

Dear students and parents,

We are confronted by the problem of the rapidly increasing numbers of people being infected with corona virus in Europe, Germany and also Berlin. In addition, more and more major public events are being cancelled and schools and other public institutions are also being closed. For this reason we have to take account of the developing situation and prepare for it as best we can without panicking.

At the moment it is not yet clear to any of us how the crisis will develop – and it is impossible to predict this reliably – but it can be assumed that the virus will spread and that more restrictions associated restrictions with the spread will come into effect.

At the moment it is not yet clear to any of us how the crisis will develop – and it is impossible to predict this reliably – but it can be assumed that the virus will spread and that more restrictions associated restrictions with the spread will come into effect.

We are therefore implementing the following measures:

  1. Continuation of lessons on site as far and as long as possible (> please observe hygienic measures).
  2. Establishment of an offer of online lessons for all those who do not want to or cannot come to Bergmannstr. 29.
  3. Postponement of cancelled lessons in March to the following months: April, May, June

How we will proceed if a large-scale closure of facilities occurs, which also affects our music school, so that we are forced to close down, cannot be conclusively clarified today.

A complete closure of our institution for several months represents a serious financial threat and burden, both for each individual teacher and for the GMA as a whole.
We will therefore try to continue teaching as far as this is possible under the circumstances, but always with a watchful eye on the health of all students, teachers and staff.

This means: if a teacher does not feel well and shows signs of infection, we ask the person concerned to cancel the lesson as a precautionary measure and to be tested for corona virus infection. We recommend the same precaution to our students: If you suspect that you have been infected or have been in close contact with infected persons, please cancel the lessons.

We appeal to the personal responsibility of our entire team, all students and parents!

Stay healthy, cheerful, positive and in good spirits and take care of yourself and your loved ones!

Strengthen your immune system with artistic, spiritual and natural food!

Together we will also master this challenge!

Your GMA-Team
