Joseph "Joe" Weinberg

Mbira player and Percussionist

Joseph Weinberg is a percussionist from South Africa with a particular fascination for the mbira, which has drawn him over the years to study with various mbira players from Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique. Between 2009 and 2015 he studied African Music at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and performed in the Ibuyambo African Music orchestra under the guidance of Dizu Plaatjies (RSA) and Matchume Zango (MOZ). Joseph Weinberg is currently based in Berlin where he runs music workshops with children and performs with his mbira ensemble locally and abroad.
